Dehradun: Thousands of engineering aspirants in the country got a step closer to fulfilling their goal of getting selected in the top institutes in the country, including the IITs, after results of the JEE (Advanced) 2016 exam were announced on Sunday.

Across the country, 1,47,678 engineering aspirants took the JEE (Advanced) 2016 exam on May 22 and 36,566 have now cleared the exam. Thousands of aspirants in Dehradun waited with baited breath for their results as traffic on the website prolonged their anxiety. Many could only access their results in the evening.




Talking to TOI, Aakash Kapoor, who scored an All India Rank of 95, said, "My biggest inspiration was my elder brother who is an IITian. I can just say that there are no short cuts to success and one must work hard to achieve one's dreams. I would love to go to either IIT Bombay or Delhi."

Centre manager of Bansal classes, Dehradun, Rajendra Bansal, said, "We are proud of our student Aakash Kapoor who is likely to be the state topper. He was always a diligent student." Shubhankar Seth, son of IG (law and order) Deepam Seth, is also among the top rankers in the state. Shubhankar, who secured an AIR of 727, said, "I am happy to have qualified with a reasonably good rank. But there are other good options beyond IITs. Things will get clearer once the counselling starts."



Other coaching centres, too, had similar stories to share. " We have amost 70 students who have qualified from our centre," said D K Mishra, director , Aviral classes.
